Monroe County Director
Title: Director, Monroe County
Supervisor: President & CEO
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Location: Rochester, NY
Salary: $54,000 - $60,500, depending on experience
General Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the President & CEO and in conformance with the policies and procedures set forth by the Board of Directors, the Director of Monroe County is responsible for the management and daily operations of the alternative dispute resolution (ADR) programs in their county, and works cooperatively with the County Courts, government agencies, school districts, and human service organizations to maintain regular referrals to the program.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide leadership, supervision and evaluation of program staff in area of responsibility;
- Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and selecting program staff for hiring;
- Set program goals in accordance with Unified Court System and other funder/contractual requirements, and work to meet them;
- Maintain and steadily increase an annual caseload in each county;
- Identify and secure funding opportunities through grants, contracts, donations, and administrative fees;
- Provide outreach to the community and referral sources by conducting informational and educational presentations to promote the agency’s mission;
- Plan and implement marketing and program development strategies to ensure compliance with funding contracts;
- Strategically plan and implement the development and expansion of ADR programs;
- Oversee the county/counties budget, produce program and in-kind reports, and contribute to required agency-wide reports;
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all funding agencies, court system personnel, government agencies and referral sources
- Recruit, interview, select, and supervise volunteer mediators for the county programs and participate in the training, apprenticing, certification, maintenance, and engagement of volunteer mediators;
- Obtain and maintain Center for Dispute Settlement mediator certification;
- Participate in staff meetings, retreats, events, and activities
Requirements
Education
Graduation from a recognized college or university with a degree in the field of Social Science, Human Services or Criminal Justice, plus two years of work experience in a related field.

Any combination of training, education and work experience sufficient to indicate the ability to perform the job.
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in working with culturally diverse populations;
- A thorough knowledge of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) processes, conflict resolution, anger management, educational institutions and training techniques;
- Experience in working with schools, non-profits, governmental agencies and communities;
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the field of conflict resolution;
- Experience in program management;
- Experience in leadership and supervision

- Ability to market and promote ADR processes in culturally diverse settings and with diverse funding entities;
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects;
- Ability to interview and make assessments;
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Strong organizational and time management skills;
- Ability to appropriately handle confidential information;
- Ability to work flexible hours with some evening and weekend requirements;
- Knowledge of various community resources and the skills needed to network with them;
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and basic computer technology
